4-H Member,
Each year, many 4-H
teens have the opportunity to participate in lots of cool activities at
the county and state level. Why do these teens get to do all the
neat things? Maybe its because they took the time to read this letter
and learn more about the exciting opportunities that 4-H has to offer.
This year, I hope YOU will be one of the lucky teens selected to

COUNTY
REPORT FORMS 
Any 4-H member, age
14 or older, as of December 31, 2001, can complete a County 4-H Report
Form. Completed forms are due to our office by January 18, 2002,
and are used to select trip winners to Ohio 4-H Youth Expo, Ohio 4-H Sea
Camp, Ohio 4-H Leadership Camp, Ohio 4-H Conservation Camp, and Citizenship

SCHOLARSHIPS 
The Ohio-4-H Scholarship
application for high school seniors is due to the Extension Office January
18, 2001. Applications are judged at the county, district and state
levels. Scholarships range from $500 to $1000. Applications
will be available from our office after November 15th.
BUCKEYE
LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP (BLW)
Buckeye Leadership
Workshop welcomes those interested in developing or improving recreational
leadership skills. A minimum age of 16 (or sophomore in high school)
is required. The workshop will be held March 15 through March 20,
2002. Registration fee is $320, however, partial scholarships are
available through the BLW committee. Local sponsorships may also be available.
The deadline for scholarship application to BLW is December 28, 2001.

CARVING
NEW IDEAS
Carving New Ideas
is a motivational & leadership weekend retreat sponsored by The Ohio
Collegiate 4-H Club on December 7th-9th at 4-H Camp Ohio. Activities
include team building, leadership, community service and recreational workshops.
Registration fee is $75.00. Local sponsorship may be available.

CAMP
COUNSELOR/COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT)
Any 4-H member, age
15 and older as of January 1, 2002, may apply to be a Darke County 4-H
Camp Counselor or CIT. All interested teens must submit a completed
application to the Extension Office by December
1, 2001. All applicants will be interviewed at the Extension Office
on Monday, December 10th. Darke County Junior Camp is scheduled for
July 1-3, 2002. Darke County Intermediate Camp is scheduled for July
8-11. Both camps will be held at Indian Hills 4-H Camp in Miami County.
STATE
4-H AMBASSADOR
All Ohio 4-Hers are
eligible who: a) are a high school freshman, sophomore, junior or senior
on January 1 of the year of application; b) have achieved the standards
of excellence outlined as criteria for the program; c) have a permanent
residence in Ohio at the time they participate in the program; d) have
not previously been a State 4-H Ambassador. To apply for this opportunity,
members need to complete a State 4-H Ambassador application form.
These forms can be obtained from our office after November 15th.
Application deadline is January 18, 2002. Darke County currently
has one youth serving as a State 4-H Ambassador Emily Goubeaux of Versailles.
DARKE
COUNTY 4-H AMBASSADOR
Darke County 4-H
Ambassadors are needed to promote 4-H to 3rd and 4th grade students in
Darke County. Ambassadors highlight all of the fun and exciting opportunities
that 4-H has to offer. If you are interested in being a 4-H Ambassador,
please complete the enclosed form and return
it to the Extension Office by December 1, 2001.
DARKE
COUNTY 4-H CARTEENS 
CarTeens is a driver
education program presented to teens with first-time traffic violations.
Teens, age 15 and older, are needed to help with the presentation of this
program. CarTeens is held the second Saturday of each month, 9:00am-11:00am,
at the Extension Office. Complete and return the enclosed application
to the Extension Office by January 1, 2002.
4-H
FOOD AND FASHION BOARD 
Any Darke County
4-H member, age 14 and older, interested in promoting 4-H nutrition and
clothing projects and activities, may apply to be a member of the Food
& Fashion Board. Members must be enrolled in a nutrition or clothing
project and be willing to develop and present educational activities to
4-H clubs in Darke County. Complete and return the enclosed application
to the Extension Office by January 1, 2002.
DARKE
COUNTY 4-H COMMITTEE
The Darke County
4-H Committee is composed of advisors, parents, business/community representatives
and youth leaders who serve two year terms. The main purpose of this
committee is to help determine 4-H program needs. The committee meets
the third Thursday of every other month, beginning in January. If
you are interested in serving on this committee, contact
the Extension Office by December 1, 2001.
SPECIAL
EVENTS HELPERS
Occasionally, youth
leaders are needed to assist with special 4-H programs and presentations
on a limited basis. Examples include after school activities, summer 4-H
presentations, day camps, etc. If you are interested in being considered
as a special events youth volunteer, please contact
the Extension Office by January 1, 2002.
