4-H Trip Award Descriptions*
(Applications

Ohio
4-H Youth Expo June 19-21, 2002: This event brings together Ohios
older 4-H youth in a spirit of celebration, exploration, personal development
and recognition. Conducted on the campus of The Ohio State University
in Columbus, delegates benefit from the resources of this major land grant
university. Here
4-Hers expand their
knowledge and abilities through specialized courses of study, take part
in sessions that improve their personal life skills and learn to value
the achievements of themselves and others through 4-H. Participants
will have the opportunity to participate in a service learning activity
to benefit the lives of others. The program includes over 17 specialized
subject tracks, presentations by nationally known speakers, member recognition,
and a variety of evening entertainment events.

Citizenship
Washington Focus June 16-22, 2002: This program includes a
week of workshops and programs at the National 4-H Center, an actual visit
with congressional representatives and senators, visits to historic sites,
museums, and monuments in downtown Washington D.C. Participants will
also enjoy sightseeing in the Washington area and a variety of other exciting
hands-on opportunities in our nations capital. Members will travel
with 4-Hers from the southwest portion of Ohio.

Ohio
4-H Sea Camp July 9-13, 2002: This event brings together youth
who are interested in environmental education, recreational water safety,
conservation and aquatic science. Participants will also take part
in activities which help develop positive self-esteem, decision making
and appreciation of the Great Lakes as an important water resource.
Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy fishing, scuba, snorkeling,
astronomy, aquatic biology, navigation practices, power boating, swimming,
charter boat fishing and much more!

Ohio
4-H Leadership Camp July 22-27, 2002: This is a once in-a-lifetime,
exciting challenging, in-depth, learn by doing leadership development experience.
Leadership campers plan, conduct, and evaluate the program themselves.
Opportunities include experiences focusing on daily leadership themes and
options for campers in such areas as leadership skills, local and county
programs and ideas, cultural heritage and citizenship, communications,
careers, and personal development. Campers will experience evening
programs, inspirational services and opportunities for leadership development.

Ohio
4-H Conservation Camp June 29-July 4, 2002: This camp brings
together youth from across Ohio to study land use capability, soil, water,
forestry, wildlife and recreational land use. Members participate
in a land use planning exercise and present their land use plans.
Participants develop a better understanding and appreciation of natural
resources, and learn about the interdependence of land, water, forests
and wildlife. The final day of camp includes educational tours.

*All of the above
opportunities require the completion of the County Report Form and selection
by members of the Darke County 4-H Committee. All trips are funded
through local sponsorship.

be available from our office after November 15th. For help in completing

an appointment (evenings are available).
By completing
a County Report Form, you can also apply for several different state achievement
awards and the opportunity to attend National 4-H Congress next fall.
