All youth planning to exhibit market animals, lactating dairy, or lactating goats in the 2019 Darke County Jr. Fair must complete quality assurance as per the Ohio Department of Agriculture.  Quality Assurance must be completed by Darke County exhibitors by June 1, 2019 in order to be eligible to exhibit or sell.

Quality Assurance will be offered in Darke County on the following dates/times:

  • Saturday, April 6 – 10:00, Youth Building, Fairgrounds
  • Monday, April 8 – 7:00pm, Youth Building, Fairgrounds
  • Tuesday, April 23 – 7:00pm, Youth Building, Fairgrounds
  • Thursday, May 2 - 7:00pm, Coliseum, Fairgrounds
  • Saturday, May 4 – 10:00am, Coliseum, Fairgrounds

No preregistration is necessary.  Youth should plan on arriving 15-20 minutes early in order to have time to sign in.  The program begins promptly at the time indicated and late arrivals will not be admitted.  Youth must stay until the end of the program in order to receive credit for attending.  There is no fee for youth enrolled in Darke County 4-H or FFA programs.  Out-of-county participants will be assessed a $20.00 fee.

Youth do have the option of going to another county’s QA program.  However, other counties may charge a fee to out-of-county participants.

Exhibitors age 12 and over (as of 1/1/19) do have the option to test-out. Three test-out options will be offered at the Extension Office:  Monday, March 11, 6:30pm and Friday, April 19, 10:00am and 2:00pm.  Preregistration is required for test-out.  Please contact Rhonda williams.418@osu.edu at the Extension Office to register.  If you would like to test-out but are not available for either of these dates, please contact us.

This year's Quality Assurance will focus on GPPs 7, 8 and 9,  as well as Ethics and Animal Welfare.  A study guide to help with test preparation can be found here.
